Meet The GBS Media Team!

Grant B. Smith – Owner/Founder

Grant B. Smith is a lifelong resident of Port Huron and earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University. In 1978 Grant began building a very successful health insurance business through very hard work and consistently targeted advertising. Decades of media experience have allowed Grant to assemble a talented and creative marketing staff. The staff has been so successful that GBS Media was created as a secondary business to help accomplish marketing goals for other business owners and professionals.

Julie Williams – Executive Assistant

Julie Williams grew up in Sanilac County, Michigan and graduated from Sandusky High School. She attended community college before earning her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Science in Administration. Throughout her 31 years of working in the Michigan public school system, she was a secretary, accounting clerk, benefits manager, and payroll/benefits manager for a large school district. After retirement, she joined the Grant Smith Health Insurance Agency and was trained as an administrative assistant for the Medicare Supplement side of the insurance agency. She is currently cross-training in the business office for the agency. Julie is also responsible for the financial arm of Grant Smith’s media advertising company, GBS Media. Julie is married to Brian Williams and they have a four-footed furry child named Buddy-Bear.

Joseph Britton – Technology Director

After graduating from Port Huron High in 1971, Joe started his career as an Electronics/Electronic Warfare technician in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he earned a Bachelors in Computer Science and Master’s in Software Engineering from National University in San Diego California. He’s worked in a variety of IT positions since then: from kernel-level Unix development to full-stack web site development. His hobbies are working on old radios and experimenting with robotics. Joseph is welcomed and enthusiastically part of GBS Media as its technology director. Welcome back to Port Huron!

John Pidick – Sales Director

John Pidick is a life long resident of the Blue Water area. He worked retail management prior to his 35 years in advertising sales with local radio stations. He is involved in several local service clubs. He is a past president of the Marysville Chamber. He assisted in establishing the non-profit Marysville Friends of the Arts to sponsor scholarships for Marysville art students. He is also involved in Blue Water Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, and Marysville Rotary. He was previously involved in the American Heart Association Heart and Stroke Committee. He is an avid golfer and bowler.

Edward Senyk – Director of Video Production

Edward Senyk is a long time resident of Port Huron. He was bit by the film bug at a very young age and decided to turn his passion into his career. Edward graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University. He now has over 35 years in award winning video production experience. Edward is the Director of Video Production at GBS Media.

Justin Jahn – Videographer

Justin Jahn is from Goodells, Michigan.

As a child, he grew a passion for cinema and in his teenage years he became interested in directing, screenwriting, and editing his own short projects.

After graduating Port Huron High School he attended St. Clair County Community College. Justin’s creative niche eventually lead him to attend and graduate from the Motion Picture Institute of Michigan to pursue filmmaking. He has since worked on large scale productions for major motion picture studios, commercials, and promotional videos. He has received numerous awards and recognitions in filmmaking for his written and directed projects.

Rhodes Short – Video Production

Rhodes Short was a stand-up comic/improv actor for over 30 years in Los Angelos, California. Before moving back to his hometown of Mount Clemens, Michigan. He then acquired a master’s in chaplaincy and a bachelor’s in ministry. In 2015 Rhodes founded Sharky Street Ministries and produced his first faith-based film, “Who Will Move The Stone”. In 2018 The Chaplin TV series in vein the TV show Cops. Rhodes uses the media of video to preach and teach the gospel.

Sophia Senyk – Video Production

Sophia Senyk has been a resident of Port Huron for her entire life. She had recently graduated from Port Huron High School and plans to continue her education at Saint Clair Community college. Although Sophia is newer she already feels welcomed to the GBS Media team, Sophia says she “loves the staff and their welcoming energy” and she “can’t wait to see all the opportunities given at this workplace.” Sophia loves to pass her time by going on walks volunteering for events and hanging out with friends.

Selena Senyk – Administration

Selena Senyk has been a Blue Water Area resident her whole life. Selena graduated from St. Clair County Community College. Selena has worked for GBSMedia for over 2 years. She started out as a Data Entry Assistant for Grant Smith Health Insurance Agency and has since taken on the responsibilities of updating on social media, the event calendar as well as many other positions for BlueWaterHealthyLiving.com. Her ability to help wherever needed has been a great trait.

Sharon Palmateer – Administration

Sharon Palmateer has been a resident of Port Huron since 1999. She taught Pre-Kindergarten for 31 years before retiring. She is our event calendar coordinator for BlueWaterHealthyLiving.com, and she also handles our reception area as well as other clerical duties.

Blue Water Healthy Living is a conservative online magazine located in Port Huron, Michigan. Our purpose is to promote healthy living by promoting the values of Faith, Family, and Freedom as well as showcasing the Blue Water Area, its people, issues, and surroundings. This online magazine is devoted to providing healthy living related stories, local happenings, and commentary. Often inspiring and uplifting, our stories come from our heart and soul to promote the enjoyment of a more fulfilling Blue Water Area lifestyle. At times we present articles that are political in nature, as well as news outside the reach of the Blue Water Area.
